PCB Technology Empowering Smart Health Care Devices
With the rapid growth of wearable electronics and healthcare PCB solutions, printed circuit boards (PCBs) play a critical role in enabling compact, intelligent, and reliable products. This case study introduces a Regulating Body Health Care PCB project developed for a long-term Japanese customer, highlighting our capabilities in PCB design support, Gerber file creation, PCB fabrication, and PCBA assembly.
This project focuses on a portable health care device that enables users to exercise anytime and anywhere, without being limited by specific venues or large equipment. The product combines sensor-based motion detection with advanced PCB technology to support modern fitness and health management needs.
Project Background: From Concept Design to PCB Manufacturing
The Japanese customer has been cooperating with us for many years and entrusted us with this new health care electronics project. At the early stage, the customer shared their vision: traditional fitness methods such as marathon running or balance ball training require fixed locations and time commitments. Their goal was to design a compact, wearable health care device that could monitor muscle activity and body movement during daily activities.
This innovative product provides real-time feedback on muscle exercise, fat consumption, and improper postures that may affect long-term health. It can be worn inside a knee pad or socks, making it lightweight, convenient, and suitable for men and women of all ages.
PCB Design Input: Creating Gerber Files from PDF Drawings
At the beginning of the project, the customer provided PDF design drawings instead of Gerber files. Based on these documents, our engineering team carefully analyzed the circuit layout and created accurate Gerber files to meet PCB manufacturing standards.

PCB Specifications Overview
- PCB Type: 2-layer PCB
- Panelization: 5 × 5 pcs per panel (25 pcs)
- Overall Panel Size: 187.5 mm × 197.5 mm
- Board Edge: 10 mm
- Panel Method: V-cut
- Copper Thickness: 1 oz
- Board Thickness: 1.6 mm
- Solder Mask: White
- Silkscreen: Black
- Surface Finish: HASL
These specifications ensure the PCB meets the reliability and durability requirements for wearable healthcare electronics.
BOM Management and PCBA Assembly Optimization
The BOM list for this project included components sourced from multiple channels:
- Some components supplied by the customer in Japan
- Some components sourced by our company
- Some parts requiring assembly only
- Some components not requiring assembly

Our engineers carefully reviewed the specifications, footprints, and availability of each component. While the customer initially considered supplying more components from Japan, cost and lead-time evaluations showed that full component sourcing through our supply chain offered the best balance of quality, cost efficiency, and delivery reliability.
Since the Gerber file was not available at the quotation stage, we provided a preliminary PCBA assembly cost estimate based on the PDF drawings and component packages. After detailed verification, we delivered a competitive and transparent quotation, enabling the customer to understand the full project cost upfront.
Core Technology: Motion Sensors and Smart PCB Integration
The micro sensor system is the core of this health care PCB project. These sensors are designed to detect:
- Position and orientation
- Movement direction (up, down, left, right)
- Motion speed and activity patterns
By integrating multiple sensors on the PCB and applying sensor fusion algorithms, the system delivers accurate motion tracking results. When combined with GPS data, the device can analyze exercise behavior more precisely and provide actionable health feedback.
This advanced PCB integration demonstrates how smart PCB design and embedded sensor technology support next-generation wearable devices.
Production Status and Mass Manufacturing Plan
We are currently completing the Gerber file finalization and electronic component procurement. The first production batch is planned for 1,000 pcs, covering PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, and functional testing.

With strict process control and quality inspection, we aim to ensure stable performance and high consistency across all assembled PCBAs.
