One of my key projects is a Signal Indicator PCB board, which was developed with the support of JY’s engineering team. Today, this product has become very popular in the Mexican market.
Project Overview: Wireless PCB Signal Indicator
Below is a brief introduction to my project.
Function of the PCB Board
This electronic circuit board is designed to work as a motorcycle trailer turn signal indicator, similar to automotive turn signals. The PCB board is mounted on the trailer, and the rider can activate different signals using a wireless remote control while seated on the motorcycle.

How the System Works
- When the rider needs to turn right, they press the R button on the remote control.
- The same operation applies for the left turn signal.
- During normal riding, the rider can activate the blue indicator light using the designated button.
An important requirement is that the rider must clearly see which signal is active on the remote control. Therefore, the remote buttons illuminate when pressed, providing immediate visual feedback.
LED Flashing Logic and Firmware Design
The signal timing is precisely controlled through embedded firmware programming:
- Green LEDs (Left & Right Turn Signals):
- ON for 1/5 second
- OFF for 4/5 second
- Continues for 10 seconds
- Then turns off until triggered again
- Blue Indicator Signal:
- ON for 1/4 second
- OFF for 4/5 second
- Runs continuously until manually deactivated
- Double-pressing the button turns it off permanently until reactivated

Compared with the previous version, which required three separate boards, the new integrated PCB design uses only one wireless board with no cable connections, greatly simplifying the system architecture.
Remote Control Performance
The remote control has an effective operating distance of approximately 1 meter, which is sufficient for most real-world motorcycle and trailer applications. With this new design, only the main PCB board is required, as the remote control now performs the functions previously handled by two additional boards.
Importantly, the number of LEDs and their brightness remain the same as in the old version. The PCB size and battery capacity are also maintained at similar levels to ensure compatibility.
Why the New PCB Design Is Better
The older boards had several limitations:
- Low operational efficiency
- Complicated user operation
- Rider had to visually identify which control board to press
After reviewing our requirements, JY proposed upgrading the system to a wireless remote-controlled PCB solution. Surprisingly, even with the added remote functionality, the overall cost was reduced thanks to smart component selection and optimized PCB layout.
Engineering Support and Cost Optimization
JY’s engineers were highly professional and patient throughout the project. They played a critical role in:

Firmware development was the key technical challenge. To control costs while maintaining performance, JY selected cost-effective electronic components that fully met the functional requirements of the design.

This ensured the final product met real-world environmental requirements.
