Near Field Communication (NFC) is a widely adopted wireless communication technology that enables fast, secure, and low-energy data transmission at short distances. Its unique signal attenuation capability ensures high bandwidth, close-range private communication, making it indispensable in industries like access control, public transportation, logistics, and mobile payments.
Our factory recently completed an NFC PCB assembly project for a client in Argentina, delivering 2,500 fully assembled and tested circuit boards within a tight schedule. This project highlights our professional PCB manufacturing and testing capabilities.
PCB Technical Specifications
The NFC PCB in this project is designed with the following parameters:
- Material: FR4 board material, TG140, 94 V-0 grade
- Layers: Single layer PCB
- Board thickness: 1.0mm
- Copper thickness: 1oz
- Surface finish: Lead-free HASL
- Solder mask: Green
- Silkscreen: White
- Board size: 62mm × 53mm
- Panelization: 4 pcs per panel by V-cut
This board does not include complex trace spacing or pad widths, making it efficient for large-scale PCB production and assembly.

Assembly Process
The PCB design included two-sided assembly with both SMD and DIP components. A total of five different components were listed in the BOM (Bill of Materials), each with a detailed part number, which streamlined the procurement and production process.
One key component was JP1, located at the center of the board. As a DIP component, it required extra attention during soldering:
- The pad height had to be thinner than the adjacent IC to fit into the housing correctly.
- Engineers provided a detailed assembly guide to ensure precise handling of JP1 pins.
- Extra care was taken during packaging to protect protruding components and prevent scratches or damage during shipping.
This careful handling reflects our strict PCB assembly standards and ability to meet customized client requirements.
Functional Testing
Testing was a critical part of this NFC PCB project. With 2,500 boards to verify, we followed the client’s detailed test documentation and videos to ensure every circuit board was functional before shipment.
- Testing Tools: We used smartphones with the “NFC Taginfo by NXP” app and additional NFC readers.
- Test Method: Placing the phone over the assembled PCB, detection confirmed proper functionality.
- Defect Analysis: If detection failed, possible issues could be traced to the 1% capacitor, PCB coil, or IC.
- Adaptability: Although the client planned to send specialized test equipment, we sourced our own NFC tester to avoid delays.
All 2,500 NFC PCBs passed testing successfully, and the order was shipped on time. This demonstrated our capability in reliable PCB assembly testing and commitment to quality assurance.
Applications of NFC PCB Devices
The NFC PCB boards produced for this project can be widely applied in multiple industries:
- Access Control & Ticketing: Used in gates, transport cards, and logistics management systems.
- Contactless Payments: Secure mobile payments at POS terminals with embedded NFC modules.
- Data Transfer: Point-to-point file sharing, such as exchanging contacts, music, or images.
- Smart Browsing: Connecting NFC-enabled phones to smart posters or terminals for traffic or event information.
- Remote Access Management: Controlling permissions for staff or household attendants through NFC commands.

These applications prove NFC technology is a core enabler for modern IoT, smart devices, and digital payment ecosystems.
